Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026 · Effective date: June 1, 2026
1. Who we are
The Technology Pulse ("we," "us," "our," or "the Site") is operated as an independent technology content publication at https://thetechnologypulse.com. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information from visitors and subscribers, and explains the rights you have over that information under applicable laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA, and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
If you have any questions about this policy or our handling of your information, please contact us at hello@thetechnologypulse.com or via our contact page.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Email address — if you subscribe to our newsletter through the embedded sign-up form (powered by Kit, formerly ConvertKit).
- Order and payment information — when you purchase a digital product, payment processing is handled by our third-party providers (PayPal and Stripe). We do not store full payment card details on our servers. We do receive confirmation of the transaction and the email address associated with your order so we can deliver the product.
- Message content — if you contact us via our contact form or email, we receive the content of your message and the email address you submit so we can reply.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Log data — like most websites, our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically records access logs that may include your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page you came from (referrer), the page you visited on our Site, and the time of the request. This data is used for security, performance, and aggregate traffic analysis.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small text files placed on your device by our Site and by third-party services we use. See Section 4 for details.
- Analytics data — aggregated, non-identifiable information about how visitors use the Site (which pages are viewed, how long the visit lasted, the device category, the approximate region). See Section 4.
2.3 Information from third parties
If you arrive at our Site through an affiliate or referral link, our affiliate partners (such as Amazon Associates, Impact, and similar networks) may share with us aggregated, non-identifiable click attribution data so commissions can be tracked. We do not receive your name, email, or other personal information from these networks.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Deliver the content, tools, and digital products you request
- Send the weekly newsletter (only to addresses that voluntarily subscribed, with a one-click unsubscribe in every email)
- Respond to inquiries received through the contact form or email
- Process payments and fulfill orders for digital products
- Understand aggregate site usage so we can improve content, navigation, and performance
- Serve advertisements via Google AdSense (see Section 4.2 below)
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, security incidents, and abuse
- Comply with legal obligations, court orders, and lawful requests from authorities
4. Cookies, advertising, and third-party services
4.1 What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They allow the site (and certain third parties) to recognize your device and remember preferences. We use both session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
4.2 Google AdSense and advertising cookies
The Technology Pulse displays advertisements served by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising network operated by Google LLC. Google uses cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our Site and other sites on the internet. This includes the DoubleClick DART cookie, which enables Google and its partners to deliver more relevant advertisements.
You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google and its partner network at any time:
- Visit Google Ads Settings to control personalized ads served by Google.
- Visit aboutads.info (Digital Advertising Alliance, "DAA") to opt out of personalized advertising from many participating networks.
- Visit optout.networkadvertising.org (Network Advertising Initiative, "NAI") for additional opt-out options.
- If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, visit youronlinechoices.eu.
Opting out does not mean you will stop seeing ads — only that the ads you see will not be personalized to your interests based on your browsing history.
Google's privacy practices are described in the Google Advertising Policies and the Google Privacy Policy.
4.3 Analytics
We may use Google Analytics (or a similar, privacy-respecting analytics service) to understand aggregate Site usage. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as the pages you visit, the device category, the approximate region, and the duration of your visit. This data is processed in aggregate and is not used to identify individual visitors on our Site. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
4.4 Newsletter (Kit)
Our newsletter is delivered through Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which processes your email address solely to send you the newsletter you signed up for. Kit's privacy practices are described in their privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email; doing so removes your address from our list.
4.5 Payment processing
Digital product purchases are processed by PayPal and Stripe. These providers receive the information necessary to process your payment (which may include your name, email, billing address, and payment card details). We do not store full card numbers on our servers. PayPal's and Stripe's privacy practices are described in the PayPal Privacy Statement and the Stripe Privacy Policy.
4.6 Affiliate networks
Links to retailer products on our Site may be affiliate links (most commonly Amazon Associates). When you click an affiliate link and complete a purchase on the retailer's site, the retailer's affiliate network reports the sale to us using a referral identifier. We do not receive your name, email, or shipping address through these reports. The retailer's own privacy policy governs your interaction on their site.
4.7 Managing cookies in your browser
You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, delete cookies that have already been placed, or notify you when cookies are being set. Each browser is different; see the help section of your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.) for instructions. Note that disabling all cookies may impair certain Site features, such as remembering newsletter preferences or completing a purchase.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With service providers who process information on our behalf to operate the Site (hosting, analytics, payment processing, newsletter delivery, advertising), bound by contracts and confidentiality obligations.
- With advertising partners as described in Section 4.2 (Google AdSense and affiliated ad networks), via cookies and similar technologies.
- To comply with legal obligations, court orders, subpoenas, or other lawful requests from authorities.
- To protect rights and safety, including investigating potential violations of our terms or applicable law, or to prevent fraud, abuse, or harm.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, in which case the acquirer will be bound by the privacy commitments described here unless and until a revised policy is published.
6. Data retention
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law:
- Newsletter subscribers — retained for as long as you remain subscribed, plus a short suppression period after unsubscribe so we can honor the unsubscribe request.
- Order records — retained for as long as required by applicable tax, accounting, and consumer protection laws (typically 7 years).
- Contact form messages — retained for up to 12 months unless the conversation is ongoing.
- Server access logs — retained by our hosting provider for a rolling period (typically 30–90 days) per their security and operational policies.
- Aggregate analytics — retained indefinitely in aggregated, non-identifiable form.
7. Your rights under GDPR and UK GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with comparable data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention obligations
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interests and processing for direct marketing
- Withdraw consent at any time for processing that is based on your consent (this does not affect prior lawful processing)
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise these rights, email us at hello@thetechnologypulse.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will respond within 30 days.
8. Your rights under CCPA / CPRA (California residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell or share (we do not sell or share personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration)
- Delete personal information we have collected, subject to legal exceptions
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not engage in this practice)
- Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information
- Non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights
To exercise these rights, email us at hello@thetechnologypulse.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request."
9. Children's privacy (COPPA)
The Technology Pulse is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact hello@thetechnologypulse.com.
10. Security
We use commercially reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. The Site is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International transfers
The Technology Pulse is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Where required by law (for example, GDPR), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for such transfers.
12. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. There is no consistent industry standard for honoring DNT, so we do not currently respond to DNT signals. We do honor GPC signals to the extent required by applicable law for opt-out of sale/sharing of personal information.
13. Third-party links
Our Site contains links to third-party websites (for example, retailer pages reached through affiliate links). Those websites have their own privacy policies and practices, which we do not control. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if the changes are material, we will provide additional notice (for example, a banner on the homepage or an email to subscribers). Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
